Changing Lives Through Events

Our events strive to “Serve others in Christ” as a part of Northminster’s mission. Events tie together fellowship and service to others, both within and outside the faith community in recognition that we are ALL connected and need one another (see brochure).

Events

  • Youth Bake Sale and Chili Cook-Off (February 12th), 6 – 8pm

    Summary:
    CAUTION: Mixing Fire and Sweets (a.k.a., Bake Sale and Chili Cook Off). Come join us for the annual youth fund raiser. This is a fun, casual way to support the youth, sample a bunch great chili recipes, and enjoy some wonderful baked goods!

  • Hanover College Chamber Choir (February 26th), 7 – 8pm

    Summary:
    Come here a fantastic performance by the Chamber and Concert Choir of Hanover College, a liberal arts college in Hanover, IN. These young performers are incredibly talented, we are excited to be a part of their tour!!

  • Mixed Nuts Party (March 4th), 5:30pm

    Summary:
    Join the Mixed Nuts group for a pot-luck Mediterranean evening. This is a great way share experiences, ideas and be a part of those raising children of all ages [or anyone who is a child at heart 🙂 ].

  • Journey To the Cross (March 25th), 4:30 – 6:30pm

    Summary:
    Adults are invited to participate in a self-lead Journey to the Cross that will be setup in the Sanctuary. This journey takes us through events during the last week of Jesus’ life. It’s a powerful way to experience a closer connection to Jesus’ journey before his death. All are welcome.

  • Children’s Dinner Theater (April 9th), 5:30 – 7:30pm

    Summary:
    Come watch our children perform a moving Easter play, “Easter: An Amazing Resurrection!”. There will be a potluck dinner, great acting, laughs, audience participation and songs!

  • Easter Eggs: Hunt and Children’s Hospital Baskets (March 26th), 11am – noon

    Summary:
    HOP on over and hunt for EGGS (separated into age groups)!! The children will also participate in songs, crafts, games and a Journey to the Cross presentation. Come enjoy a traditional Easter celebration and contribute to Easter baskets for the Children’s Hospital!!

  • Youth Spaghetti Dinner (April 3rd), 12:00 – 1:30pm

    Summary:
    Plan to attend the annual youth fund raiser Spaghetti Dinner! Support the youth, help make their many activities possible (e.g., mission trips, local projects, presbytery events), and let the noodles tickle your palette.

  • VBS (July 23rd), 5:30 – 7:30pm

    Summary:
    Take a break from the Summer HEAT!! Come enjoy good food, entertainment, fellowship and fun! Bring a dish and an item (or two) for the backpack ministry (learn more)! Come enjoy an evening together and support our collaborative work with the children in Rosa Taylor elementary school!

  • Beach and Bangladesh (August 6th), 5 – 7pm

    Summary:
    Come enjoy a day at the beach and support our international missionaries, the Morgans. There will be boating, tubing, etc.

  • Promotion Sunday (August 14th), 9:00 – 9:45am

    Summary:
    Come celebrate the Fall “Kick-Off” for all Sunday school classes! All ages will gather in the sanctuary, hear about all the learning opportunities at Northminster, and celebrate children moving up into new classes!

    Where: Sanctuary; Refreshments afterward.

  • Picnic and Children’s Ministries (September 18th), 11:30am – 1:30pm

    Summary:
    Join us on the grounds of Hephzibah Ministries Home for a picnic meal of with all the fixins’, then enjoy the activities. Chicken, lemonade, and tea will be provided, with a potluck approach for other items. Bring something for the pot-luck if you can, but most important BE THERE and INVITE others!!

  • World Communion Sunday (Oct 2nd), 10:00am Service

    Summary:
    World Communion Sunday is a day for all Christians – of whatever background and of whatever theological tradition – to recollect that we are in fact one in Christ and that the table we receive communion is at God’s table – not our own.

    Where: Sanctuary, during services.

  • All Saints Day / Necrology (Oct. 30), 10:00am service

    Summary:
    All Saints’ Day is a time to rejoice in all who through the ages have faithfully served the Lord, known and unknown. The day reminds us that we are part of one continuing, living communion of saints. It is a time to express our gratitude for all who throughout the ages kept the faith and served Christ. The services include the naming of those who died during the previous year.

  • Thanksgiving Dinner and Loaves and Fishes (November 13th), 12:00 – 1:30am

    Summary:
    Help support those in need through “Loaves and Fishes” and enjoy with everyone a time to celebrate, remember and give thanks for the many blessings that are a part of one’s life within the Northminster faith community.

  • Lessons and Carols (Dec 4th)

    Summary:
    Come enjoy the sounds and hymns of the Christmas season in our Lessons and Carols service, celebrating the birth of Jesus.

  • Alternative Christmas Fair (Dec 4th, 11am)

    Summary:
    As an alternative to the commercialization of Christmas, the fair offers people opportunity to donate to various charitable causes in the names of those you wish to gift. Certificates are given to donors signifying their gift on behalf of another.

  • Christingles (Dec 11th, 9:00am)

    Summary:
    Loved by children and adults alike, ‘Christingles’ are full of symbolism and are prepared to take part in a special candlelit service. Join us to for a cookie decorating party and to make your Christingle in preparation for the family service on December 15th, or simply to take home and enjoy!!

  • Children’s Dinner Theater (December 11th), 5:30 – 7:30pm

    Summary:
    Lights, camera, action! Come watch our children perform the play, “A Christmas Story”. There will be a potluck dinner, great acting, laughs, and songs!

  • Christmas Sing and Serve (Dec 18th, 10am)

    Summary:
    Come join us for this intergenerational celebration of Christ’s birth. Live into the Christmas spirit by enjoying great fellowship and serving those in need. There will be singing, story-telling, crafts for kids and the opportunity to serve those within the Macon community!
